Article 578 — Branch: Definition

1/ A branch is a fixed establishment of a foreign sole proprietorship, business organization or a similar entity that is staffed and set up to pursue economic activity for gain on behalf and for the account of the said party for a definite or indefinite period. 2/ The branch does not have an autonomous legal entity distinct from that of the sole proprietorship, business organization or the similar entity that owns it. 3/ The rights and obligations arising from its activity shall be part of the assets of the sole proprietorship, business organization or the similar entity that owns it.
